To the Gentle Healing of the Earth

Ken Robinson is a kala keh nah seh - a healer, seer, and teacher of an ancient shamanic tradition that assists people in waking up to their Songs, their vibrant alive Selves in the universe. This medicine storytelling tradition is called ka ta see, which means "living in balance from the heart."

Ka Ta See is ancient, having been preserved, protected, and lived by a remote indigenous tribe from South America. Perceiving that the world was becoming farther and farther out of balance, this profound knowledge of awakening was brought to our culture in 1974 by elder shamans, Domano and Chea Hetaka, who fulfilled a tribal prophecy by leaving their jungle homeland in a remote Peruvian region of the the Amazon River basin in order to bring their ancient shamanic knowledge to the world. Among their people they were referred to as "kala keh nah sehs" - seers, healers, and teachers, builders of webs of love, connectedness, and balance. The Hetakas came from a particularly joyful and healthy community, who, in their kindness and total acceptance toward all life, had no word for "judgment." To pass on their knowledge, the Hetakas sought out and taught Kay Cordell Whitaker, who apprenticed with them for thirteen years, after which she was asked to give the teachings to others. 

In keeping with the spiritual tradition's extensive apprenticeship form of committed learning, Ken has studied ka ta see since 1995 with Kay (now the author of The Reluctant Shaman and Sacred Link). He has since been given permission to offer his services as a teacher, counselor, and healer of this profound ancient lineage.

Ken pursued his apprenticeship in ka ta see in the wake of his active participation in Native American community-building rituals. Guided by visionary experiences and by an invitation from a Lakota healer and his people, Ken participated in the culture's medicine ways.

The Shamanic Astrology of Extraordinary Awakening was discovered and developed by Ken, using the tools and knowledge of ka ta see. Based on his direct first-hand experiences in his shamanic endeavors, this astrology is unique and powerful in its richness and offerings. It embraces our abilities to live in our aliveness so that we may feel and know our ancient identities. Ken's professional background includes former work as a therapist, teacher, camp director, and workshop facilitator, offering his services in various settings such as mental health centers, colleges, public and private schools, and wilderness camps. Ken holds Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Antioch/New England Graduate School, a Master's degree in Liberal Arts from Clark University, and a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy from Southern Connecticut State University.

He lives near Santa Fe, New Mexico with his partner JoAnne Dodgson and their dog Jasmine.
